Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen created several versions of the Organic Chair for the Museum of Modern Art's Organic Design in Home Furnishings competition in 1941. This chair, of manifest comfort, was very advanced for its time, but it was never mass-produced due to the lack of proper production techniques. In 2006 Vitra launched the Organic Chair and in 2008 the Organic Highback with high backrest and headrest. In addition to these reading chair variants, there is the new Organic Conference, with a slightly higher and forward-leaning shell than in the other models. It is therefore particularly suitable for use on tables, both for the dining room, as well as for conferences and meetings.
