Eero Saarinen was an architect and designer known for his modern and innovative designs that helped define post -war aesthetics in the United States.Born in Finland in 1910, he moved with his family to the United States at age 13 and was educated at the Cranbrook Academy of Art, where he later became director of the Design Department. During his career, he designed a wide variety of buildings, from churches and museums to office and airport buildings, such as the TWA terminal of the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York and the Gateway Arch in San Luis, Missouri. But perhaps he is better known for his furniture designs, especially by the Tulip chair, which was launched in 1956. This piece, along with other Saarinen designs, helped define the modern post -war style and remains an icon of design iconnowadays. Throughout his career, Saarinen worked with a variety of materials, including marble, steel and glass, and experimented with innovative shapes and curves in his designs.His works helped define an era and remain appreciated for their beauty and functionality.
