Corniches are born from the spontaneous need to have small surfaces to deposit objects. "Just as when we jump into the sea we look for a ledge in the rock to hang our things, in everyday life we also need a small and informal storage place," explains Ronan Bouroullec. This is why Corniches are not just shelves or horizontal surfaces, but rather individual protrusions isolated within the environments we create. As a shelf for keys next to the front door, a place to leave what we need in the bathroom within reach, as a pedestal for a small collection of objects or for a large installation, Corniches are a new way to use the wall in the home.
